Bike-a-thon
Northcliffe Surf Lifesaver and iron woman competitor, Sheree Merryfull, lent her support to students at The Southport School in a bike riding challenge all in the name of charity.
Barely taking time to recover from the weekend’s epic “Coolangatta Gold”, in which she placed in the top ten, Sheree helped out by lap counting the 30 minute bike-a-thon at The Southport School on Friday 19 October.
Sheree cheered on some 60 prep students - some of them with training wheels – as they attempted to beat last year’s bike-a-thon record of 27 laps.
The bike-a-thon is expected to raise some $2500, which The Southport School has pledged to the Cerebral Palsy League of Queensland.
Sheree, whose sister has cerebral palsy, was earlier this year named an Ambassador for the Cerebral Palsy League.
