Mobile art

More than 100 primary school students made Australian “art history” when they created potentially the country’s largest and most colourful mobile art.

Craigslea State School students, including some who have cerebral palsy, painted a Brisbane City Council bus in all colours of the rainbow for the annual Colour Your Day Appeal.

Acclaimed Queensland artist, Kendall Perkins-Brakels, designed the bus artwork and guided students’ in their work.

Another well known local artist and Brisbane Deputy Mayor, Cr David Hinchliffe, saw red – and just about every other colour – when he helped Kendall and the 100 kids brighten up the Brisbane City Council bus.

The bus was donated by Council to launch the Colour Your Day Appeal, which has attracted the support of 1000-plus businesses statewide.

The Cerebral Palsy League would also like to thank APN Outdoor who assisted with the canvas and Dulux for the donation of the paint.

Scheduled 18-24 February, Colour Your Day aims to raise more than $100,000 for the Cerebral Palsy League.

To participate, Queenslanders are asked to don their most colourful clothes for a nominated day during the appeal and make a gold coin donation to Australia Post or other local participating businesses.

All funds raised benefit Queenslanders with cerebral palsy – the most common form of physical disability in childhood, which currently has no cure.
