Occupational Therapist Assessment Service
Our occupational therapist assessment service works with our employment service to identify specific needs or barriers in the workplace for our job seekers. Our Occupational Therapists are disability specialists and have experience in assessing functional capacity, analysing the physical components of work and providing advice in the following areas:
- Posture, range of movement and functional capacity
- Task analysis to determine physical components of work activities
- Need to refer for further diagnostic or medical investigations
- Need for modifications to the work environment or use of alternate techniques
- Need for equipment or specialised computer Mylestones Employment methods
- Need for work conditioning or gradual increase in work role
- Back care, energy conservation and risk management

Psychological Assessment Service
Our psychological assessment service works with our employment service to identify specific needs or barriers to work for our job-seekers where it is difficult to assess a person’s capacity for work or make employment recommendations. Our psychologists are disability specialists and have broad experience of assessing the pre-vocational needs for a range of job seekers who may have psychiatric disability, intellectual disability, post traumatic stress, English as their second language, or other individual needs. Personal assessments and diagnostic tests are available in the following areas:
- Psychometric testing to assess intellectual functioning
- Academic achievement testing to assess learning disabilities
- Memory and attention testing to assess memory and attention deficits
- Personality and mental status assessment to identify behavioural functioning

Driving Assessment Service
Our occupational therapy driver assessment and rehabilitation services are available to people with a medical condition or injury that affects their ability to drive safely. An assessment may be necessary if:
- Your physical or mental skills may have changed since you first obtained your licence
- You have a physical injury, head injury, illness, disability, stroke or psychiatric disorder that may affect your ability to drive safely
- You have a medical condition or disability and would like to know if you are able to obtain a driver licence
An occupational therapist will identify the impact that a medical condition or injury has on a person's ability to drive. Our assessments involve both an on-road and off-road assessment.
