CPL Staff

We take a holistic view towards the family and work lives of our employees. We take seriously the importance of balancing work responsibilities with family commitments.

With offices throughout Queensland, CPL has an exciting range of careers and professional development opportunities on offer.

Work/life balance and family-friendly benefits

We take a holistic view towards the family and work lives of our employees. We take seriously the importance of balancing work responsibilities with family commitments in the following ways:

  • Flexible working hours
  • Leave including carer’s leave, annual leave, adoption leave, study leave, bereavement leave, parental leave, sick leave and also the facility for unpaid leave
  • Parental leave up to 12 months including flexible working arrangements on return to work
  • Work from home options

Staff recognition

We recognise the exceptional contribution our staff make in the workplace, in their service to clients, and against their performance goals. Peers, clients and managers can identify staff members who have demonstrated exceptional performance.

On-the-job career development

Training and development opportunities
We offer a wide range of training and professional development opportunities. We are a Registered Training Organisation and work in the following areas can lead to part or full nationally accredited qualifications:

  • First Aid
  • Certificates III and IV in Disability Work
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Management

We operate a Recognition of Prior Learning program for existing staff in Certificates III and IV in Disability Work, allowing their on-the-job experience to contribute towards a formal qualification.

As well as offering an excellent training program to our staff, we also offer a wide range of internal and external professional development opportunities that reflect the significant diversity of the job opportunities in our organisation.

Work shadowing
One of our most popular career development programs is the opportunity for our employees to increase their understanding of various roles within the organisation through work shadowing or “buddying”. This program allows staff to experience other roles, to develop new skills and to develop meaningful career plans.

Mentoring program
Our mentoring program matches an employee with a mentor within the organisation to provide dedicated and personal career development. The program:

  • Provides an avenue for personal development
  • Encourages fulfilment of goals
  • Increases performance efficiency
  • Increases socialisation
  • Increases organisational loyalty

Performance plans and appraisals
Performance appraisals are an integral part of the developmental program for team members and provide a framework for appropriate recognition. We also encourage each staff member to play a central role in developing their personal performance plan for the year, ensuring it reflects not just their job requirements, but also identifies personal areas of interest and career development.

Salary packaging

Because of our status as a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), we offer permanent staff the opportunity to receive a component of their salary tax free. This is referred to as Salary Packaging. This tax free sum is utilised to pay expenses nominated by the staff member.

Staff can package a maximum of $16,050 per annum, allocated to a choice of specific personal expenses on a fortnightly basis, including: home loan or rent, credit card, personal loans, electricity, telephone, council rates, school fees, and many others – virtually anything you receive a receipt for (apart from investments).

Our Salary Packaging Coordinator can answer any queries on salary packaging on commencement or prior to starting your employment.
